Environment Idaman launches
free garbage bins  

Environment Idaman Sdn Bhd launched its free garbage bins at a ceremony held on 19 November 2011 at Taman Lumba Kuda, Alor Setar.

A total of 48,000 garbage bins with a capacity of 120 litres will be distributed in Alor Setar, Kedah while 3,200 garbage bins with a capacity of 660 litres will be distributed in Kangar, Perlis.

The company’s bins are part of some three million bins to be given to households in seven states by the three companies awarded a 22-year concession to manage solid waste collection and public cleansing management in the Peninsular. The other two companies are Alam Flora Sdn Bhd, and SWM Environment Sdn Bhd.

Housing and Local Government Minister YB Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung officiated the ceremony, which was attended by about 1,000 local residents. Also present was Director of Environment Idaman, Azmanuddin Haq Ahmad.

At the event, the Toll Free Hotline for Aduansisa was also launched. Accessible via 1-800-88-7472, the hotline is operated by Perbadanan Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal dan Pembersihan Awam, the Government agency that monitors the concession companies.
