PINTAR Foundation

UEM Group had fully sponsored the three-year English Literacy Programme (UELP) involving 50 PINTAR schools which commenced in 2012. The programme, which is also the first and largest education initiative to be undertaken by a Malaysian company with PINTAR Foundation, focused on equipping over 100 primary school teachers with key skills and knowledge required to help them conduct English teaching and learning process, which in turn benefited some 15,000 students.

A study conducted in late 2014 shows that UEM Group's RM3 million investment in this programme had resulted in a total social value worth a whopping RM54 million.

Following the successful completion of UELP, UEM Group is now turning its focus towards greater involvement in the PINTAR Schools Adoption Programme by adopting another 18 new schools this year. As a whole, UEM Group of Companies is currently adopting a total of 44 PINTAR schools – one of the largest commitment undertaken by a company under the purview of PINTAR Foundation.

Under this programme, the Company aims to help raise the academic performance of students at its adopted schools through the implementation of key initiatives, which include tuition classes, environment awareness, smart learning and team building activities. Such efforts are coherent with PINTAR Foundation's aspiration to influence better educational outcomes for underserved students in the country by using an intervention approach.
