2016

Invested some RM50 million from 2013 to 2016 in community engagement and charitable activities with education being the core focus.

Malaysia’s first holistic township management services operator was formed via a joint venture between UEM Sunrise Edgenta TMS Sdn Bhd and Township Management Services Sdn Bhd, the latter being a wholly-owned subsidiary of Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

UEM Sunrise entered into a Joint Venture Agreement with diversified investment conglomerate, Mulpha International Berhad, to develop three land parcels fronting the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.

UTL Enterprise Limited, via its wholly-owned subsidiary SUTL Marina Holdings Pte. Ltd. entered into an agreement with UEM Sunrise via UEM Land Berhad to incorporate, finance and operate a joint venture company to develop the existing private marina, a mega yacht marina and a public marina in Puteri Harbour of Iskandar Puteri in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.

10 March 2016, UEM Group’s Golden Jubilee. Various activities were organised to celebrate the 50th Anniversary including a nationwide CR initiatives as well as a Charity Run held in Kuala Lumpur; Kangar, Perlis; and Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru where proceeds received were donated to chosen charitable organisations.

UEM Sunrise completed the topping out for the high-rise component of its Symphony Hills development in Cyberjaya, Selangor – Verdi eco-dominiums. The topping out ceremony signified the structure completion of the development in accordance with the project’s schedule.

The upgrading of 3.2 kilometer elevated Bayan Lepas Expressway (BLE) from Batu Maung to Sungai Nibong, Penang was completed and opened to motorists on 6 April 2016 by Minister of Works, YB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof. The project was not only completed on schedule, below budget but it recorded zero fatalities and more than 3.3 million man hours worked without lost time to injury.

UEM Sunrise completed the mixed-use development project, Teega @Puteri Harbour located in Iskandar Puteri, Johor in accordance with the project’s schedule. Built on 10 acres of land in UEM Sunrise’s Puteri Harbour, the project commands a gross development value of RM1.34 billion and comprises four components – Teega Residence, Teega Suites, Teega Tower and Teega Walk.

UEM Sunrise signed Joint Land Development Agreement with Telekom Malaysia Berhad to develop a 1.69-acre land parcel in Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur into a high rise mixed development comprising serviced apartments and retail elements.

UEM Sunrise’s upmarket high rise residential property, 28 Mont’Kiara in the Central Region was named the World Silver Winner by FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2016.

UEM Sunrise completed and handed over homes under Rumah Mampu Milik Johor and Perumahan Komuniti Johor as well as Kedai Kos Sederhana in Bayu Nusantara, Iskandar Puteri.

UEM Sunrise sold 25.37 acres of land within Southern Industrial and Logistics Clusters to South Korea’s cosmetic agent, AMOREPACIFIC Corporation who plans to develop an integrated centre for research and development, manufacturing and logistics of cosmetics products. With the new facility, AMOREPACIFIC expects to create between 300 to 500 new jobs in Iskandar Puteri.

In ensuring the public enjoy a more comfortable journey on its highways, PLUS allocated some RM25 million in 2016 to upgrade selected RSAs and lay-bys. It has invested almost RM260 million for the same since 2005.

UEM Edgenta successfully completed the proposed acquisition of Asia Integrated Facility Solutions Pte. Ltd., the holding company of UEMS Pte Ltd (UEMS), a well-established market leader with over 25 years of notable track record, provides facilities management services to the healthcare sector serving over 60 public and private hospitals, and 26,000 beds in Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.

UEM Group announced that it is investing some RM150 million on an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Cloud Solution for the Company and its subsidiary companies with a n aim to revolutionize its technological capabilities.



2015

UEM Group Berhad
Uniquest Infra Ventures Private Limited commenced commercial operations or toll collection of its first greenfield project in the country, the 123.4-kilometre highway that connects Jetpur and Somnath in the state of Gujarat.

In support of the Government’s Bumiputera Empowerment Agenda, UEM Group and Majlis Amanah Rakyat or MARA signed an MoU which will see both parties exploring potential cooperation and collaboration targeting Malaysia’s Bumiputera community. Areas of potential cooperation include education, entrepreneurship, investment and management services.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo inaugurated the 116.75 kilometer Cikopo-Palimanan toll road which is the longest toll road ever built in Indonesia and one of the largest constructions ever built jointly between Indonesian and Malaysian companies.
   
PLUS Malaysia Berhad
PLUS has invested almost RM250 million since 2005 to upgrade its selected rest and service areas (RSA) and lay-bys to help the public enjoy more comfortable journey on its highways.

PLUS completed the Fourth Lane Widening Project and implemented Electronic Toll Collection in several areas nationwide.


UEM Sunrise Berhad
UEM Sunrise launched several projects in 2015 which has a gross development value of some RM2 billion and these include The Conservatory in Melbourne, Serene Heights in Bangi, Sefina in Mont’ Kiara and Estuari in Puteri Harbour.

In October, UEM Sunrise formally commenced construction of Aurora Melbourne Central.

UEM Sunrise entered an agreement with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts which will see a Hyatt House hotel be located in Mont’Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is expected to open in 2017.

Entered into a partnership with WCT Holdings Berhad to develop 600 acres of freehold land located Rawang. It will be a mixed-use development project on the area with a targeted gross development value of approximately RM3 billion.

On 3 December, UEM Sunrise signed an agreement with Ascendas Hospitality Trust to sell the serviced apartment’s component of Aurora Melbourne Central for AUD$120 million.

UEM Sunrise and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. entered into a joint venture agreement with Nusajaya Tech Park Sdn Bhd, a company jointly owned by Asia’s leading business space solutions provider, Ascendas, to offer Build-to-Suit properties for lease in Nusajaya Tech Park, Iskandar Malaysia.

UEM Sunrise acquired its third property in Melbourne, Australia – a 21-storey, 16,000 square metres office tower on 412 St Kilda Road for AUD$58 million (approximately RM161 million). It is located at a strategic corner site of St Kilda Road, one of the main routes into the Melbourne CBD.


UEM Builders Berhad
UEM Builders in a joint venture with Samsung Korea secured the contract to construct the 644 metres Menara KL118 Tower, set to be the tallest building in Southeast Asia and the second highest in the world after Burj Khalifa.


Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad (CIMA)
CIMA collaborates with University Malaysia Perlis Malaysia on research to optimize the overall energy replacement efficiency of solid fossil fuel with rice husk.


UEM Edgenta Berhad
On 27 March, shareholders of Faber Group Berhad gave its approval for the Company to change its name to UEM Edgenta Berhad.

UEM Edgenta secured major local and overseas contracts worth more than RM4.72 billion in 2014 and 2015.

UEM Edgenta and Resource Data Management Asia Sdn Bhd announced the formation of Joint Venture company named, Edgenta Energy Services Sdn Bhd to offer the commercial market a more comprehensive energy management solution. 

UEM Edgenta acquired 80% stake in integrated facilities management company, KFM Holdings Sdn Bhd for RM128 million. The acquisition is in line with UEM Edgenta’s overall strategy to expand into the asset facilities management business, and the environment and sustainability business.


CR
UEM Group’s Back-to-School programme sees an increase in the number of recipients -- from 11,000 in 2014 to more than 14,000 in 2015 and this includes deserving employees across UEM Group of Companies whereby 311 of personnel and a total of 706 children received the back-to-school provisions.

PLUS continues its initiative in spreading road safety messages to the public through a mural contest for secondary schools. The ‘Malaysians Unite For Road Safety’ (MUFORS) Inter-School Mural Competition was once again staged in 2015 and it was the fourth time the mural contest is being organized since 2009.

One thousand PLUS staff participated in the Company’s annual PLUS Community Day program which takes place on a single day at 26 locations across the country.

UEM Sunrise undertook many education-based CR projects throughout the year including the annual 7th Pintar Al-Quran Programme with the ‘Khatam Al-Quran’ ceremony to mark the notable achievement of 151 pre-schoolers from its seven adopted KEMAS kindergartens around Gelang Patah.

CIMA continues to organise tuition classes for UPSR students for Daerah Jempol/Jelebu and Kuala Pilah and also several adopted schools in Perlis. The programme has seen over 1000 students from 43 schools benefited from this programme.  



2014

PLUS Malaysia Berhad
Opens Two New Interchanges – The Sungai Buaya Interchange was launched by YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia on 10 January and the Bukit Gambir Interchange was launched by YAB Deputy Prime Minister on 25 January.

Implemented electronic toll collection on 22 November at Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau Toll Plazas.

UEM Sunrise Berhad
UEM Sunrise Berhad and Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad entered an agreement to jointly develop land in Gerbang Nusajaya & Fraser Metropolis at Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.

Ground breaking ceremony of affordable homes known as Denai Nusantara on 15 November with YAB Menteri Besar of Johor. Denai Nusantara will comprise of 1,109 units of three bedroom apartments and 108 units of 1,200 sq ft, one-storey shoplots.

UEM Sunrise announced it will build 351 units of affordable properties in Nusa Bayu and pledged to build 10,000 more affordable housing in Gerbang Nusajaya in Nusajaya, Iskandar Malaysia.

UEM Sunrise made its first foray into Australia with the successful launch of Aurora Melbourne Central Project. The 92-storey building which has 941 service apartments and a Gross Development Value of RM1.5 billion, was 95% sold in just 3 weeks.

UEM Builders Berhad
Construction completion by UEM Builders led to the opening of klia2 low-cost carrier terminal by YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia on 2 May.

Construction completion by UEM Builders, which launched the final span on the bridge 106 days ahead of schedule, resulted in the opening of Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge by YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia on 1 March.

UEM Builders and PROPEL secured a RM687 million construction project to build camp facilities and infrastructure for the Pengerang Integrated Complex.

Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad (CIMA)
CIMA successfully installed an alternative fuel combustion system from Japan’s Taiheiyo Engineering Corporation allowing its plant to use tyres and biomass waste as an alternative source of fuel. CIMA is the first in the country with such technology.

Asset & Facility Management
Faber Group Berhad completes its RM1.15 billion merger with Opus Group Berhad and Projek Penyelenggaraan Lebuhraya Berhad (PROPEL). The merger is set to transform Faber from a Hospital Support Service Specialist into one of the largest Asset Development and Asset Management players in the region.

Faber Group Berhad signed a RM1.03 billion with Konsortium Prohawk which will see it provide Asset Management Services to Women and Children Hospital for the coming 27 years upon the construction of the hospital.

The PROPEL Safety Passport was launched on 28 November. The programme is aimed at enhancing PROPEL’s employees and contractors knowledge and understanding on the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Health and Safety processes at the workplace.

CSR
UEM Study Grant Programme – RM1.4 million was allocated in 2014 to finance 222 qualified applications, who are children of employees, to continue their tertiary education or pursue any technical and vocational course.

Back-to-School Programme was held across more than 15 locations nationwide and benefited over 11,000 underprivileged students.

Collected and contributed a total of RM1.3 million to MERCY Malaysia and Viva Palestina Malaysia to provide humanitarian relief in the conflict-razed and devastated Gaza Strip.
   



2013

Faber Inks New 10-Year HSS Concessions
Faber Group Berhad secured three new Hospital Support Services (HSS) concessions for the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia (comprising Perak, Pulau Pinang, Kedah and Perlis) as well as Sarawak and Sabah from the Government of Malaysia for a period of 10 years.

Completion of Second Penang Bridge Final Approach Span
UEM Builders Berhad completed the installation of final approach span for the Second Penang Bridge 106 days ahead of schedule.

Construction Commence on Cikampek-Palimanan Expressway
Construction of the 116-kilometre Cikampek-Palimanan Expressway in Indonesia commenced following the signing of the Rp8.8 trillion Credit Syndication Agreement with 22 banking and financial institutions which too place in late 2012.

UEM Group Secures Women & Children’s Hospital Project
UEM Group and joint venture partner Najcom Sdn Bhd was entrusted by the Ministry of Health to develop and construct Malaysia’s first Women & Children Hospital.

Acquisition of Uniquest
UEM Group took over the 80% stake of Uniquest Infra Ventures Private Limited, an entity that invests in infrastructure projects in India, from Khazanah Nasional Berhad.

UEM Sunrise Maiden Venture Into Australia
  UEM Sunrise Berhad announced it will launch two projects in the Central Business District of Melbourne, Australia. It bought a 0.4-hectare site each in LaTrobe Street and Mackenzie Street, and the two projects is worth a combined A$1 billion.
   
Uniquest Acquires SEW Navayuga Barwani Tollways Private Limited (SNBTPL)
 
Uniquest Infra Ventures Private Limited acquired a significant majority stake in SEW Navayuga Barwani Tollways Private Limited (SNBTPL) from SEW Infrastructure Limited and Navayuga Engineering Company Limited. SNBTPL operates the Khalghat – MP/Maharashtra Border section of NH-3 from Km 84.70 to Km 167.50 in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

UEM-MTD Consortium Signs MoU With Enany Group
A Consortium made-up of UEM Group Berhad and AlloyMTD Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Enany Group, a global investment company headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The signing of MoU, which was held on 12 October, will pave the way for greater collaboration between the Malaysian Consortium and Enany Group in the proposed development of King Abdullah Project in Makkah and Makkah Metro Project.

PLUS Berhad Issues RM30.6 Billion Sukuk
Projek Lebuhraya Usahasama Berhad (PLUS Berhad) issued a RM30.6 billion Sukuk - the largest global Sukuk and Malaysia's single largest bond issuance to-date. This follows the privatisation of PLUS Expressways Berhad (PEB) - one of Malaysia’s largest privatisation exercises - and the restructuring of the toll concessions under PEB and Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd (PBSB).

UEM Land JV With Ascendas Land

UEM Land Signed RM4 Billion Nusajaya Deal
UEM Land Berhad, the property development arm of UEM Sunrise Berhad signed several collaborative agreements worth more than RM4 billion with six companies to kick start Phase 2 of its flagship development, Nusajaya in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor. Unipati A Certified Business Partner of Sime Darby
Unipati Concrete Sdn Bhd (UPC), a subsidiary of Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad, was chosen as a Business Partner of Sime Darby Property Berhad. Since 2009, UPC has been the only Preferred Vendor of ready mixed concrete for all Sime Darby Property development projects in Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan.

Faber Launches New Plant to Enhance Linen and Laundry Services
Faber Group Berhad, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Faber Medi-Serve Sdn Bhd (FMS) held an official launch of its new Laundry Plant. Built on an industrial lot area of 5,987 square meters, the RM18 million plant located at Bukit Beruntung Industrial Park is part of FMS’ continuing efforts to increase the capacity of its linen and laundry services.

Kualiti Alam Licensed to Treat & Dispose Clinical Waste
Kualiti Alam was granted a license to treat and dispose clinical waste at its Waste Management Centre, located in Bukit Nanas, Negeri Sembilan. It secured Clinical Waste contract from Radicare (M) Sdn Bhd for RM3.5 million and Medivest Sdn Bhd for RM0.92 million in July and November 2012 respectively.

Waste To Energy (WtE)
UEM Environment Sdn Bhd (UEME) signed a two year Collaboration Agreement with KCS Green Energy International (Group) Investment Co Ltd. (KCS) and Beijing China Sciences General Energy & Environment Co Ltd. (GEE). The Collaboration allows UEME to identify and share the opportunities to be involved in the Circularised Fluidised Bed Technology (CFB) for Waste to Energy (WTE), with special emphasis on municipal solid waste management in Asia and Middle East as well as participate in the hazardous waste project in China.

E-Idaman (ENVI) Rolls Out Multi-Purpose Arm Roll (MPAR) Truck
Multi-Purpose Arm Roll (MPAR) Truck is being used by ENVI for the collection of solid waste both at residential and commercial areas in Alor Setar, Sungai Petani and Kangar.

PROPEL Signs MoU with UPSB
Projek Penyelenggaraan Lebuhraya Berhad (PROPEL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uniutama Property Sdn Bhd (UPSB) to collaborate in securing all infrastructure maintenance works from Universiti Utara Malaysia and also Public Institution of Higher Learning and Private Higher Education Institution.

PLUS Malaysia awarded UEM Builders the construction of Fourth Lane Widening from Shah Alam Interchange to Rawang/Jalan Duta Toll Plaza and Nilai (North) to Seremban under the joint venture company named UEMB-MRCB JV Sdn. Bhd.

PROPEL provides traffic management services for MRT Project.

E-Idaman Sdn. Bhd. commenced deployment of 90,000 free bins to each landed, non-landed, shop lots and commercial business districts.

NSCI was awarded the certification ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System from SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd. NS EcoCrete LH, was awarded the ECO-LABEL Product by SIRIM and certified Green Label Singapore by the Singapore Environment Council.

Kualiti Alam received re-certification audit by SIRIM Qas International SB for ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and new revision MS1722 version 2011 with Non-Conformance (NCR) recorded.

Nusajaya Lifestyle Sdn. Bhd. a joint venture company between UEM Land and Iskandar Harta Holdings Sdn. Bhd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Iskandar Investment Berhad held the soft opening of Phase 1 of Mall of Medini.



2011

Privatisation of PLUS Expressways Berhad

On 9 November 2010, UEM Group Berhad (UEM) and the Employees Provident Fund Board (EPF), as Joint Offerors, issued an offer to acquire all of the business and undertaking of PLUS Expressways Berhad (PEB), including all assets and liabilities of PEB for a total purchase consideration of RM23 billion or RM4.60 per PEB Share (the Offer).

PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS Malaysia, formerly known as PLUS Malaysia Sdn Bhd), an SPV jointly-owned by UEM (51%) and EPF (49%) was incorporated on 29 November 2010 to undertake the transaction.

The shareholders of PEB had, at its Adjourned Extraordinary General Meeting held on 25 January 2011, approved the proposed disposal of the entire business and undertaking, including all assets and liabilities of PEB to a special purpose vehicle to be held by UEM and EPF for a total consideration of RM23 billion (Proposed Disposal) and the proposed distribution of the cash proceeds arising from the Proposed Disposal to all entitled shareholders of PEB via a special dividend and proposed selective capital reduction and repayment exercise (Proposed Distribution).

The Proposed Disposal was completed on 29 November 2011. The Proposed Distribution was completed on 23 December 2011 and PEB was removed from the Official List of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 23 December 2011.

On 12 January 2012, Projek Lebuhraya Usahasama Berhad (PLUS Berhad) issued RM30.6 billion Sukuk - the largest global Sukuk and Malaysia’s single largest bond issuance to-date, following the privatisation exercise. The proceeds from the Sukuk issuance were utilised to part finance the purchase of assets, liabilities, businesses, undertakings and rights of five toll concessions - Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan Berhad, Expressway Lingkaran Tengah Sdn Bhd, Konsortium Lebuhraya Butterworth-Kulim Sdn Bhd, Linkedua (Malaysia) Berhad and Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd. The proceeds were also utilised to fund capital expenditure, working capital and other general funding requirement.

Renounceable offer for sale by TIME Engineering Berhad for shares in TIME dotCom Berhad

On 2 August 2011, TIME Engineering Berhad (TEB) completed a renounceable offer for sale (ROS) of its entire equity interest in TIME dotCom Berhad (TdC) at an offer price of RM0.53 per share on the basis of 8 offer shares for every 10 ordinary shares of RM0.20 each in TEB.

The proceeds from the exercise had enabled TEB to fully redeem its outstanding Redeemable Secured Loan Stock (RSLS). The ROS had benefited TEB in terms of interest costs savings as well as provided the entitled shareholders with an opportunity to have direct participation in the prospects and future performance of TdC at a discount to the market price.

The Disposal of Pharmaniaga
As part of the continuous efforts to strategically streamline the core businesses of the company, UEM Group Berhad and Boustead Holdings Berhad (Boustead) had on 11 June 2010 entered into a conditional share sale and purchase agreement (SPA) for the proposed disposal by UEM of its entire 87% stake in Pharmaniaga Berhad (Pharmaniaga) for RM534 million. The streamlining exercise was completed on 25 March 2011.

The Acquisition of Sunrise

The acquisition of Sunrise Berhad (Sunrise), a property development and investment holding company was completed on 16 February 2011 with Sunrise becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of UEM Sunrise Berhad (Group).

The primary reason for the acquisition was the complementary and synergistic fit of both companies where the prospects and potential of the enlarged Group would be enhanced. The enlarged Group has emerged as one of the dominant market players in terms of revenue and assets base in the Malaysian property development sector.

Faber Star Facilities Management Limited became a wholly owned subsidiary of Faber Facilities Sdn. Bhd. with the acquisition of the remaining 49% equity interest from Singa Real Estates Ltd.

UEM Land jointly manages the marketing and development of six land parcels in Marina South and Ophir-Rochor sites in Singapore for M+S Pte Ltd, a joint venture company between Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd.

UEM Land unveiled Angkasa Raya, a 1.59 acre freehold mixed development in the KLCC vicinity.



2010

A Joint Venture company made-up of UEM Construction Sdn Bhd and Bina Puri Holdings Bhd was awarded the contract for the construction of the new LCCT complex, called KLIA2.

Brunei Economic Development Board appoints UEM Builders to construct 4,000 houses under the National Housing Scheme Project.

Faber Development Holdings Sdn. Bhd. launched Armada Villa in Taman Danau Desa and Areca Residence in Kepong.

UEM Land acquired 449 acres of freehold land in Bangi, Selangor.

UEM Land launched Symphony Hills development in Cyberjaya, Selangor.

UEM Land launched Nusa Bayu development in Nusajaya, Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.

UEM Land launched Bio-XCell, Malaysia’s first dedicated Biotechnology Park in Nusajaya, Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.



2009

UEM Group undertook a streamlining exercise to form four core businesses namely Expressways; Township & Property Development; Engineering & Construction; and Asset & Facility Management.

UEM Builders awarded Penang Second Bridge Project.  

UEM Builders was awarded the construction of a 44.6 km long tunnel for the Pahang-Selangor Raw Water Transfer Project by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology.

UEM Land unveiled its Environment Management Plan known as the “Nusajaya Green Plan”.



2008

UEM World undertook a corporate exercise which included non-renounceable restricted offer for sale of UEM World's equity interests in its listed subsidiaries, namely UEM Builders, Opus, Pharmaniaga and CIMA to the shareholders of UEM World on a rights basis; Dividend-in-specie of shares in UEM Land for existing shares in UEM World; Listing of UEM Land on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia; Disposal of UEM World's remaining businesses and undertakings to UEM Group; and Capital Repayment.

UEM Group acquired equity interests in CIMA, UEM Builders, Opus, Pharmaniaga and other non-listed entities and remaining businesses and undertakings of UEM World. 

UEM Group became major shareholder of UEM Land. 

Shareholders Agreement signing ceremony between companies in UEM Builders and Ansal Properties & Infrastructure Limited in New Delhi, India. 

Completion of the 81km-Salwa International Highway, Phase 1 project in Doha, Qatar - a project of UEM Builders.

2007

PLUS Expressways acquired a 55% controlling interest in PT Lintas Marga Sedaya, the concessionaire of the Cikampek-Palimanan toll road project.

ELITE and LINKEDUA became wholly-owned subsidiaries of PLUS Expressways.

PLUS Expressways acquired equity interest in Konsortium Lebuhraya Butterworth-Kulim Sdn Bhd, the concessionaire for the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway.

Following the completion of an internal re-organisation of Opus plc and its consolidated subsidiaries, Opus Group Berhad was admitted to the Official List of Bursa Securities, replacing Opus plc. 

Pharmaniaga set up marketing office in Vietnam. 

UEM Land secured Limitless LLC as its development partner for Residential North, Puteri Harbour. 

UEM Land launched Horizon Hills and Nusajaya Industrial Park Phase 2. Physical works on Puteri Harbour commenced.

PROPEL signed MOU with SPIE Oil & Gas Services.

UEM Land signed a Memorandum of Collaboration with General Electric Inc., to jointly develop Nusajaya.

Kualiti Khidmat Alam obtained its Integrated Management System for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 1001.

2006

The Government of Malaysia accepted UEM World's offer to construct, complete, test, commission and maintain the electrified double track project between Rawang and Ipoh.

Signing of Agreement between PT Bashkara Utama Sedaya (Indonesia) and PLUS Expressways. 

Ground-breaking ceremony of the Penang Second Crossing Bridge project in Batu Kawan, Penang. 

UEM Land secured agreement for the establishment of Johor State New Administrative Centre as the first catalyst development of Nusajaya.

UEM Land undertook de-gearing exercise involving strategic disposal of 4,500 acres in Nusajaya to Khazanah.

2005

Khazanah Nasional Berhad became the holding company of UEM.

UEM World was awarded a contract by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd for the proposed design, construction and completion of 548 units of Government apartment at Putrajaya, Wilayah Persekutuan.

Kinta Kellas rebranded to Opus International Group plc.

Third Supplemental Concession Agreement Signing Ceremony between the Government and PLUS Expressways. 

UEM Builders Berhad awarded Substructure Works for Berjaya Central Park in Kuala Lumpur. 

UEM Builders appointed as the Contractor for Institut Jantung Negara Hospital Expansion project in Kuala Lumpur.

2004

Pharmaniaga acquired 55% stake in PT Milennium Pharmacon International Tbk, the leading logistics company in Indonesia.

PLUS Expressways took over operations and management of Seremban - Port Dickson Highway. 

Completion of UEM Group Berhad's restructuring. UEM World Berhad became the listed flagship and UEM Land is designated to spearhead property businesses.

NSCI issued the Murabahah Commercial Paper with nominal value of RM130 million under MUNIF and BAIDS with nominal value of RM200 million.

Faber completed second restructuring exercise and formation of Special Purpose Vehicle.

UEM Land secured agreement for the establishment of Johor State New Administrative Centre, the first signature development of Nusajaya, Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.




2003

Renong completed privatisation through restructuring and partial settlement debts; cancellation of Renong's entire share capital and issuance of new ordinary shares in UEM World Berhad to shareholders of Renong; and acquisitions by UEM World from UEM of shares in CIMA, Intria Berhad, Kualiti Alam, Kinta Kellas and Pharmaniaga. 

TIME Systems Integrators Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of TIME Engineering, embarked on the supply of multimedia teaching equipment for Program Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran Sains dan Matematik dalam Bahasa Inggeris or PPSMI by the Ministry of Education to 10,037 schools and 28 Teachers' Training Institutes.

Migration of Pharmaniaga from the Second Board to the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia. 

PLUS Expressways took over operations & management of LINKEDUA and ELITE Expressways.

Kualiti Alam granted a licence by the Atomic Energy Licensing Board to treat waste of Technically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material.

2002

Listing of PLUS Expressways Berhad on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, now known as Bursa Malaysia. 

CIMA transferred its cement plants and related assets to Negeri Sembilan Cement Indurtries (NSCI). Its transportation-related assets was transferred to Pemasaran Sdn. Bhd.




2001

UEM de-listed from Main Board of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, now known as Bursa Malaysia, on 15 October 2001. 

CIMA completed the acquisition of 35% equity in Negeri Sembilan Cement Industries Sdn Bhd (NSCI) from Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri, Negeri Sembilan. With this, NSCI became a wholly-owned subsidiary of CIMA. 

Touch 'n Go expanded its usage into payment for parking.

Kualiti Alam awarded the OHSAS 18001 by SIRIM QAS Sdn Bhd.

Khazanah Nasional Berhad through Syarikat Danasaham Sdn. Bhd. took over UEM, including Kinta Kellas.

CIMA converted its ISO 9002 certification to ISO 9001:2000.

PROPEL received accreditation on OHSAS 18001.



2000

Touch 'n Go became ISO 9002-compliant. 

Kualiti Alam became the first company in Malaysia to achieve simultaneous certifications of ISO9002 & ISO14001. 

CIMA acquired 30% equity in Negeri Sembilan Cement Industries (NSCI) from Halla Cement Manufacturing Corp. of South Korea.

Faber completed the first Debt Restructuring Exercise under the purview of the Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee.

PROPEL was certified with ISO 9002.



1999

Electronic Data Interchange, now known as Dagang Net, introduced a world-class electronic trade documentation system to KL International Airport - the nation's newest and biggest international airport in Sepang.

CIMA began commercial production of "NS Cement”in March.

Kualiti Alam’s Waste Management Centre was officiated by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

With the commissioning of PUTRA LRT, PROPEL took on the task of cleaning and maintaining the depot stations and passenger trains.



1997

Official Opening of ELITE Highway.

Kualiti Alam commenced operations with its first secure landfill cell. Solidification Plant and Physical/Chemical Treatment Plant began operations.

Faber Medi-Serve Sdn. Bhd. and Propel-Johnson Controls (M) Sdn. Bhd. signed Hospital Support Services Agreement.




1996

UEM acquired equity interest in Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan Berhad.

Faber Group Berhad awarded a 15-year concession Hospital Support Services to 72 Government hospitals and embarks on Integrated Facilities Management Services.

Gapima Sdn Bhd was appointed as the official Government Freight Forwarders or Multimodal Transport Operator. 

Kinta Kellas acquired Opus International Consultants Ltd, a leading international multi-disciplinary consultancy providing Asset Development and Asset Management solutions for infrastructure facilities. 


1995

UEM novated Concession Agreement to privatise North-South Expressway Central Link to Expressway Lingkaran Tengah Sdn Bhd (ELITE). 

UEM awarded 15-year exclusive right to build and operate the first totally integrated scheduled waste treatment and disposal facility in Bukit Nanas, Negeri Sembilan.

Projek Usahasama Transit Ringan Automatik Sdn Bhd (PUTRA) sealed a 60-year concession to build, operate and own the Light Rail Transit System II.

Signing of Scheduled Waste Treatment and Disposal Agreement between the Government of Malaysia and Kualiti Alam. Kualiti Alam was granted with a 15-year Exclusivity Concession for off-site scheduled waste treatment and disposal for Peninsular Malaysia. 

CIMA entered into a joint venture (CIMA 35%, Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri, Negeri Sembilan 35% and Halla Corporation 30%) to build a cement plant in Bahau.

PROPEL acquired Mersing Construction & Engineering Sdn. Bhd.



1994

UEM novated Concession Agreement for the Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing Project to Linkedua (Malaysia) Berhad.

UEM's subsidiary, Projek Penyelenggaraan Lebuhraya Bhd (PROPEL), was listed on the Main Board of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, now known as Bursa Malaysia. 

Malaysia began its first e-business project with 11 organisations at the Port Klang Community System through Electronic Data Interchange (M) Sdn Bhd, now known as Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd. This is Port Klang's first step towards an efficient paper-less operation.

1993

UEM acquired equity interest in Lintasan Kedua (M) Berhad.

UEM signed Development Agreement with the State Government of Johor and Concession Agreement with the Government of Malaysia for the Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing Project.

Renong entered into a joint-venture agreement with the State Government of Johor to form a joint-venture company to purchase all land in South West Johor for the development of a new township.

Tie-up with Starwood International. UEM’s Hotel Division adopted the “Sheraton” brand in several of its hotels.



1992

UEM signed Tripartite Agreement with the Government of Malaysia and the State Government of Johor for the Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing Project.

Kinta Kellas Investments Public Limited changed its name to Kinta Kellas Public Limited Company.

Kualiti Alam was granted a Letter of Undertaking to implement projects in Malaysia.



1991

Renong became the largest shareholder of UEM.

Incorporation of Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd to participate in the privatisation of Malaysia's scheduled waste management project. Kualiti Alam undertakes Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment for Bukit Nanas in Negeri Sembilan.



1990

Kinta Kellas Investments Public Limited was listed on the Main Board of the London Stock Exchange. It also acquired Pengurusan Lebuhraya Berhad.

UEM acquired 53.9% stake in CIMA from PKNP.

Faber changed its name to Faber Group Berhad.

UEM acquired Kinta Kellas Investments Public Limited.


1989

UEM acquired equity interest in Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad (CIMA), Kinta Kellas Investments Public Limited Company and Ho Hup Construction Company Berhad.

The Federal Highway Route 2 - East Bound Carriageway to Subang Airport Road Interchange was opened ahead of schedule. 



1988

UEM signed Concession Agreement on the privatisation of the North-South Toll Expressway and New Klang Valley Expressway. Subsequently, the Government of Malaysia, UEM and Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan Berhad (PLUS) signed the Highway Novation Agreement. 

Projek Penyelenggaraan Lebuhraya Berhad (PROPEL) was incorporated.

PROPEL was nominated as contractor for Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan Berhad and signed Master Maintenance Agreement.



1986

The Government of Malaysia announced award of the North-South Expressway Concession to UEM.

Kinta Kellas Tin Dredging Public Limited Company changed its name to Kinta Kellas Investments Public Limited Company.



1985

United Engineers (Malaysia) Berhad (now known as UEM Group Berhad) carried out financial reconstruction exercise.

UEM submitted proposal on privatisation of the North-South Expressway.
