KUALA LUMPUR, 30 May 2011 - UEM Land Berhad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UEM Land Holdings Berhad (UEM Land) and the master developer of Nusajaya - the largest integrated urban development in South-east Asia, today entered into a Sale and Purchase Agreement valued at RM30.95 million with Terminal Perintis Sdn Bhd (TPSB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tiong Nam Logistics Holdings Berhad (Tiong Nam).

Under the agreement, TPSB will purchase a commercial land parcel in Puteri Harbour, Nusajaya measuring approximately 3.23 acres to be developed into a hotel and serviced apartments.

TPSB is a newly established company by Tiong Nam as its platform to venture into property related businesses in Iskandar Malaysia.

The proposed hotel and serviced apartments by TPSB is in line with UEM Land’s overall vision for Puteri Harbour and is expected to create commercial activities and spillover effects that will add value to Puteri Harbour.

Mohd Zakir Omar, Director, Finance, Corporate Affairs & Investments of UEM Land said, “We are delighted to have secured Tiong Nam’s agreement to invest in Puteri Harbour. With Tiong Nam coming on board; the development of the Family Entertainment Centre and Hotel by Themed Attractions & Resorts Sdn Bhd underway; and a luxurious boutique apartment and retail complex currently in progress by Nusajaya Consolidated Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between UEM Land and United Malayan Land, as well as Encorp Berhad’s proposed development of commercial and residential components, we are well on our way to realizing our vision to develop Puteri Harbour as a premier waterfront destination for the region.”

UEM Land has set a target for Nusajaya, the regional city, to come alive by 2012. To achieve this, UEM Land has adopted a strategy of concurrent developments within Nusajaya by multiple world-class developers. This investment by Tiong Nam is thus another milestone towards achieving its mission.

NUSAJAYA, 7 May 2011 - UEM Land Holdings Berhad, the master developer of Nusajaya, key driver of Iskandar Malaysia, distributed 120 new uniforms to the Senai Airport taxi drivers who are also the appointed “brand ambassadors” of Nusajaya at Senai Taxi Stand, Sultan Ismail Airport, Johor Bahru, today.

Today’s event was part of a series of initiatives carried out by UEM Land involving taxi drivers. The gesture is also part of UEM Land’s strategic initiative and efforts in fostering a closer relationship with the Senai Airport taxi drivers.

“UEM Land is pleased and indeed grateful for the support and cooperation rendered by our ‘brand ambassadors’, who have given us their best to help promote Nusajaya to the local as well as the foreign tourists and visitors. The unrelenting support and commitment of the Senai Airport taxi drivers has helped generate public awareness of Nusajaya and created an impactful impression amongst the general public within a short time period. We sincerely hope that this mutually benefitting relationship will continue to find favour with all”, said Zamry.

In January last year, UEM Land organised a site visit for the taxi drivers to witness the progress of developments in Nusajaya as part of UEM Land’s effort to better equip these ambassadors with relevant and current information on Nusajaya. The visit received encouraging response from all the taxi drivers who also attended Nusa Idaman’s World Cup celebration in June 2010. UEM Land, in turn, reciprocated by participating in the Maulidur Rasul ceremony organised by the Senai Airport Taxi Drivers Association.

This camaraderie resulted in today’s event, during which each ambassador also received an exclusive signature pen as well as a driving cap, as part of the branding exercise. Distributing the uniform was UEM Land’s General Manager, Marketing and Sales, Zamry Ibrahim and assisted by employees and volunteers of UEM Land.
