To achieve maximum operational efficiency as well as ensure the safety of our on-the-ground employees, we decided to undertake a fleet renewal programme which sees us replacing our current cars that are over 10 years old. Given the reliability and durability of Proton vehicles, I’m confident we are able to achieve our objectives.

“Our commitment to operational efficiency will continue and our fleet renewal programme will be expanded to include procurement of additional lorries and pick-up trucks before the end of the year (2018),” said Dato’ Azmir.

“Our relationship with UEM Edgenta goes a long way since 2002. Since then, a total of 236 units of Proton cars have been purchased via our corporate fleet sales programme and this includes the recent purchase of 30 units of Persona and 2 units of Perdana. Our Persona has become one of our best-selling units since it was launched in 2016 for its great handling and excellent safety features, whilst the Perdana is seen as a bold and stylish car. We appreciate the continuous support from UEM Edgenta and we shall provide our best services to them,” said Dr Li.

He also expressed that, “I believe trust is built because they have faith in the affordability, reliability and durability of Proton cars, which they have experienced over the years. A company car needs to be reliable yet easy to maintain, factors which are highly important for consideration before a company decides to purchase a car. These are the winning factors in our products apart from its great driveability. We hope the ongoing relationship will continue to spur more sales from UEM Edgenta in the future”.

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 January 2018 – UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise”), one of Malaysia’s leading property developers announces that Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has won the International Land Use Master Planning Competition for Gerbang Nusajaya’s Transit-Oriented Development (“TOD”) plot.

Atkins was selected out of other participating world-class master planners, based on its remarkable, practical and sustainable design for the TOD plot that surrounds MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd’s (“MyHSR Corp”) Iskandar Puteri High Speed Rail (“HSR”) station in Gerbang Nusajaya.

On 17 October 2017, The Honourable Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, unveiled the architectural concept designs of the seven stations in Malaysia for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (“KL-SG HSR”), namely Bandar Malaysia, Sepang-Putrajaya, Seremban, Melaka, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Puteri at the MyStations: Transforming Malaysia event.

Commenting on the competition and the winning master plan design, UEM Sunrise’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib said, “With the announcement of Atkins as the winner for the International Land Use Master Planning Competition, UEM Sunrise is now well-positioned to develop and bring to life the Gerbang Nusajaya’s TOD. We will soon commence the detailed planning and submission for the TOD surrounding the Iskandar Puteri HSR station and together with our strategic stakeholders, we hope to unlock the full potential of Gerbang Nusajaya. Not only in the lead up to the completion of the HSR station but to also ensure that we sustain our success by developing the communities and that the value propositions of the master plan will serve the rakyat and our future generations. I am confident that the Gerbang Nusajaya’s TOD holds tremendous potential for Iskandar Puteri as well as the Southern region of Malaysia.”

“The catalytic KL-SG HSR project is a game-changer which will not only further strengthen the connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore, but will also enhance the accessibility, improve mobility, increase logistics efficiency and transform the way we live, work and do business. Similarly, this catalytic development will bring significant benefits to the economy and communities”, Anwar added.

The idea of KL-SG HSR was initiated through the Economic Transformation Programme (“ETP”) to transform Malaysia into a high-income nation. The KL-SG HSR stations will also transform the landscape of the region as towns along the line stand to benefit from the opportunities, facilitated by greater accessibility.

The connectivity will enable businesses to be more productive and access a broader market place, while the public will enjoy an improved travel experience of shorter travel time (90 minutes from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore) and a comfortable ride through the KL-SG HSR’s city centre to city centre connection along the corridor.

Eli Konvitz, Atkins’ Director for Urban Development and Design in South East Asia said, “We are delighted to have been selected as the foreign master planner for Gerbang Nusajaya’s TOD. The competition stage encompassed the development of an economic vision as well as design, and the vision Atkins developed is founded on the realisation that Gerbang Nusajaya’s TOD as a new comprehensive urban development offers the twin benefits of creating a local and regional centre while capitalising on the specific and unique advantage of international connectivity.”

He further stated, “Our masterplan takes advantage of the opportunity offered by the Iskandar Puteri HSR station to provide a compelling vision, making best use of the site’s own attributes to inform a design that is socioeconomically realistic, commercially viable, and creates a unique, distinct and attractive sense of place to residents, businesses and visitors alike. We are looking forward to working with UEM Sunrise and the project stakeholders to elaborate the masterplan and guide it towards implementation.”

Gerbang Nusajaya’s TOD will be developed in parallel with the Iskandar Puteri HSR station. UEM Sunrise has committed to completing the TOD in time for the station to receive its first passengers once the KL-SG HSR becomes operational in 2026.

The Company is also continuing to explore potential collaborations with partners and stakeholders to jointly develop the TOD area.
