Green Industries

For the Future We Live in

UEM Group is the green investment platform of Khazanah and our foray into green industries is led by our wholly-owned subsidiary, UEM Lestra Berhad (UEM Lestra), whose name is derived from the Bahasa Melayu word, “Lestari” which means “sustainable”.

UEM Lestra’s focus is to support and develop Malaysia’s green industries from renewable energy, waste management to green infrastructure and transportation by creating and nurturing domestic champions and initiatives that drive the nation’s decarbonisation agenda and achieving net zero carbon emission by 2050.

Our Core Businesses

Cenergi SEA Berhad (Cenergi), is a sustainable energy solutions company specialising in reducing carbon emissions through development of and investments in Renewable Energy projects specifically biogas, biomass, solar and small hydro power plants.

Biogas

Our biogas power plants avoid the release of methane and help to reduce carbon emissions and provide renewable energy.

Biomass

Our plants produce biomass fuel from by-products of the palm oil production process, producing a sustainable energy source whilst reducing carbon emissions.

Solar

Cenergi offers end-to-end solar energy solutions with advanced technology for clients, to minimise environmental effect and reduce utility costs.

Small Hydro

Cenergi is also investing in small hydropower projects using the run-of-river concept. Small hydropower plays a key role in long-term decarbonization scenarios, contributing to reaching renewable energy targets set in the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

Impact to the Environment

Malaysia’s first independent power utility

NUR Power Utility

As part of NUR Power’s ESG initiatives and to ensure continuous, reliable supply of quality power in KHTP, it is developing a 130MW CCGT (Combine Cycle Gas Turbine). The new plant is expected to be completed in 2025.

NUR Power is also currently developing a 50MW solar farm to be completed in 2025 with another 50MW to be developed in the same year.
