UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise” or the “Company”) - one of Malaysia’s leading property developers – records more than RM400 mil in sales and bookings just less than two months after the launch of its ‘The Happy Chase’ campaign.
‘The Happy Chase’ is UEM Sunrise’s response in the enhancement of the Government’s reintroduction of the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) as part of the Penjana (Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan) following the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a significant sales upswing since the beginning of the Recovery MCO, popular projects include Residensi AVA, the eco-living condominium suites, have seen a take-up rate of 55% of the first of two towers. Residensi AVA forms the first phase of Kiara Bay, the 73-acre flagship waterfront development of UEM Sunrise in Kepong.
Meanwhile, Frischia, a contemporary double-storey terraced home offering in Serene Heights Bangi, and phase 1A of Senadi Hills in Iskandar Puteri have seen 91% and 80% of its units respectively taken up since its launch in July.
“We were persistent in pivoting our strategies to continue building the awareness and interest of our products and the UEM Sunrise brand during the MCO and Conditional MCO period. We knew that there was pent-up demand from the buyers and their confidence in our products, that we were able to convert much of this leads and interest to actual bookings – showing that our efforts are paying off,” said Company Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib
‘The Happy Chase’ campaign which aims at addressing concerns faced by house buyers, promises exciting rebates, attractive rewards and easy entry has garnered much interest. The Campaign offers booking fees from as low as RM1; waiver on Sales and Purchase Agreement and loan legal fees; and a multitude of other rewards including additional rebates and subsidies. Goodies are also aplenty with purchasers enjoying subsidised maintenance fees for up to two years, free kitchen cabinets and home appliances for selected participating projects.
To top it off, UEM Sunrise launched the ‘The Happy Chase Gameshow’ hosted by popular TV presenter and actor Baki Zainal, together with UEM Sunrise in-house property consultants bringing the latest HOC 2020 and UEM Sunrise project updates.
Posts of the Gameshow broadcasted live on the UEM Sunrise Facebook page over the past four consecutive Saturdays attracted a total of 219,000 viewers. The Gameshow gave potential house buyers a chance to win additional property rebates and exciting prizes while being entertained and tickled by the ever-flamboyant Baki.
“We want to thank our customers for their continued confidence in UEM Sunrise homes. The support shown by these house buyers have bolstered us here in UEM Sunrise to continue giving ‘soul’ to the homes we build and the environment that we design and construct,” said Anwar.
He added that this gives UEM Sunrise the momentum to capitalise on the positive trend and continue pushing ahead with its new launches including Allevia, an exclusive high-rise development in the heart of Mont’Kiara; Plot B of Solaris Parq, the office tower component of the 18.76-acre mixed-development masterplan; and Verna, the latest double-storey terraced home offering in Serene Heights Bangi.
“Customers believe in finding happiness through our developments which are surgically tailored for them with the E.V.E. philosophy which is Exciting, bringing Value and Easy to Own. Many of them are currently on the lookout for attractive deals, and they know that they can find it in UEM Sunrise products,” he added.
Anwar added that the public should not hesitate and grab the opportunity that ‘The Happy Chase’ provides while choice units of the projects last.

Bota, 14 September 2020 – UEM Edgenta Berhad (“UEM Edgenta” or the “Company”) continues its commitment to positively impact communities within its operations network through Corporate Responsibility (“CR”) programmes, with its recent engagement with one of the oldest schools in Central Perak, SK Bota Kiri (“SKBK” or the “School”).
As part of its continuous efforts to enhance safety on its highways, PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) collaborated with the Road Transport Department (RTD) to open up an RTD Enforcement Highway Monitoring Centre (Highway Enforcement Unit) at the old Jelapang Toll Plaza Supervision Building near Ipoh, the first of its kind on the highway.
The opening of the control centre located at KM268 on the North-South Expressway was co-officiated by RTD Director-General, Dato’ Sri Shaharuddin Khalid and PLUS Chief Operating Officer, Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi and witnessed by Director-General of Malaysian Highway Authority, Dato’ Ir. Mohd Shuhaimi Hassan and RTD senior officers.
According to Zakaria, "PLUS continuously explores new approaches and ideas to improve safety on our highways to help our customers enjoy safer and more convenient travel. Apart from focusing on engineering and education aspects through road safety advocacy programmes, we also look at law enforcement aspects by collaborating with enforcement agencies such as the RTD to improve safety on the highways.”
“At the same time, the presence of JPJ enforcement officers on our highway mainline is crucial in addressing issues relating to heavy vehicles such as the use of low-quality rethreaded tyres, overloaded and improperly secured consignment and so on. Based on our data, most of the obstacles found on the highway which consist of tyre fragments, wood, iron scraps or debris and many more originated from heavy vehicles, pose a threat to our customers,” Zakaria added.
Meanwhile, according to Dato’ Sri Shaharuddin, “The initiative that has been carried out by PLUS proves its role as a good ‘Rakan Negara’ in helping RTD to enhance the level of safety and enforcement on the highway. PLUS has provided four offices for the Highway Enforcement Unit at R&R Pagoh in Johor, R&R Dengkil in Selangor, R&R Gunung Semanggol and most recently the Enforcement Highway Monitoring Centre, Ipoh in Perak.”
“PLUS' contribution and various initiatives to ensure the safety of its customers have been globally recognized by winning the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award in December 2019 and was recently ranked as the number one top performing closed toll highway in terms of safety and comfort by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS). Therefore, I believe that this strategic and smart partnership with PLUS is the key to improving the safety and well-being of the people, especially for highway customers,” added Dato’ Sri Shaharuddin.
During the ceremony, PLUS and RTD also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a strategic collaboration involving operations and enforcement to improve safety on the PLUS highway.
PLUS and RTD and other enforcement agencies had conducted 165 Ops Halangan to tackle issues on obstacles and highway debris since 2017. The joint operations demonstrate the commitment of both parties and other enforcement agencies in resolving the issue and help highway customers enjoy safer journey on the highways.
The move to open-up an RTD Enforcement Highway Monitoring Centre (Highway Enforcement Unit) at a strategic location on the North-South Expressway provides faster access onto the highway to manage traffic incidences and improve safety,” explained Zakaria.
The centre, which started its operations since July 1st this year also regulates all Highway Enforcement Unit (UPLR) activities at 4 major enforcement zones.
Its refurbishment work completed in 2019 and it features a control room, meeting room, RTD personnel workstation, officer room, investigation room, prayer room, restrooms and covered parking spaces.
“The setting up of this RTD Enforcement Highway Monitoring Centre echoes our commitment to provide better highway services for customers as well as facilitate smoother traffic enforcement, monitoring, road safety advocacy initiatives as well as emergency assistance by RTD officers,” Zakaria added.
PLUS and RTD had earlier opened up 3 Highway Enforcement Stations at PLUS rest and service areas in R&R Dengkil (Southbound), R&R Gunung Semanggol (Southbound) and R&R Pagoh (Southbound) in stages since 2018.
