CHANGE IN TOP POST AT FABER GROUP BERHAD Azmir Merican Steps In As Executive Director
KUALA LUMPUR, 30 January – Adnan Mohammad, the 54-year old Managing Director of Faber Group Berhad (FGB) has opted for an early retirement from his contract which is scheduled to end on 31 March 2014 to pursue his own interests and opportunities. His departure is effective 31 January 2014.
In the interim and effective 1 February 2014, the Board of FGB has re-designated Azmir Merican, the Group Chief Operating Officer, Business Units of UEM Group Berhad (UEM Group) as Executive Director where he will assume the full authority, duties and functions of the Managing Director of FGB.
Before joining UEM Group in October 2012, 43-year old Azmir was the Group Chief Executive / Managing Director of AWC Berhad, a listed entity on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad and a provider of engineering services and solutions, and integrated facilities management in Malaysia, Singapore and the Middle East.
Prior to AWC, he was attached at CIMB Investment Bank where Azmir was part of the team that established the bank’s private equity business. He was involved in fund structuring and fund raising, investment evaluation and structuring, monitoring and execution of divestment plans.
Azmir started his career as an investment analyst and later worked as a manager in the financial advisory arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers. His corporate advisory experience includes dealings with corporations, multinationals and institutions involved in construction and engineering, real estate development, plantations, manufacturing, oil and gas, venture capital, fund management and stockbroking.
PLUS INTRODUCES SMART APPLICATION FOR TRAFFIC INFORMATION DISSEMINATION
PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) today introduced ‘PLUS Mobile Apps’, a smart application which enables the highway operator to disseminate latest highway traffic information directly to highway users with smartphones or tablets. According to PLUS Managing Director, Dato’ Noorizah Hj Abd Hamid, “The smart application enables us to distribute real-time traffic information on all our highways directly to highway users’ smartphones or tablets. This is part of our initiatives to ensure highway users receive the latest traffic information faster, easier and accurately.”
The ‘PLUS Mobile Apps’ can be downloaded for free by highway users through their smartphones or tablets. The application enables highway users to receive latest traffic updates directly through their smartphones and tablets, and at the same time, help them to plan their journey on the highways.
“The application can be downloaded through the ‘App Store’ for iPhone/iPad users or ‘Google Play Store’ for users with Android gadgets,” Noorizah added.
The new application is an addition to the existing PLUS traffic communication channels which include electronic boards, the PLUSTrafik Twitter service, the 1800 88 0000 PLUSLine and radio stations.
In short, the ‘PLUS Mobile Apps’ is a one-stop application which notifies highway users of the latest traffic updates such as accidents, traffic congestions, road maintenance works and others directly to their mobile gadgets. It also offers highway users a toll fare calculator, current traffic images at selected highway stretches and rest areas, facilities, locations of service stations, ATMs and interactive highway maps.
The application also enables PLUSMiles cardholders to register their cards through the PLUSMiles portal and check for toll rebates and reward points.
“The PLUS Mobile application is an added value to the PLUS highway service,” said Noorizah. She was quoted at a media briefing on the PLUS Mobile application and the company’s preparations in view of the expected traffic increase during the Chinese New Year holidays at Persada PLUS, today.
TRAVEL TIME ADVISORY CRUCIAL IN PROMOTING SMOOTHER AND SAFER TRAVEL
PETALING JAYA, 27 January 2014 - PLUS urges the public to plan their balik kampongs travel for Chinese New Year holidays based on its’ Travel Time Advisory (TTA) which is proven to have contributed to smoother traffic flow during peak periods in the past.
“The TTA plays a crucial role in helping the public to plan their journey whereby PLUS expects the traffic on the North-South Expressway will increase by 25 percent to 1.5 million vehicles per day during the Chinese New Year holidays compared to 1.2 million vehicles on normal days,” said PLUS Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Noorizah Hj Abd Hamid.
The TTA consists of recommended staggered travel times for various destinations from the Klang Valley to major states and cities in Kedah, Perlis, Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Singapore. It is aimed at distributing traffic and reducing congestion on the mainline, major toll plazas, rest areas and lay-bys during peak periods.
“We expect those in the Klang Valley to start leaving for their kampongs beginning from 29 January to 31 January (Wednesday-Friday). Meanwhile, we expect the journey back to the Klang Valley in staggered starting from 1 February to 9 February.” Noorizah elaborated.
Noorizah was quoted at a media briefing to highlight the TTA and other preparations that will be taken by PLUS in coping with the traffic increase at Persada PLUS today.
According to Noorizah, more that 50 percent of the total highway users during last Chinese New Year holidays followed the TTA and it has helped to reduce traffic congestion on the North-South Expressway.
“The high adoption rate of the TTA during the previous festive seasons helped to promote smoother and safer travel on the highways. As such, we hope that the public will continue to give their co-operation in following the TTA for their balik kampong as well as during their journey back to the Klang Valley,” Noorizah said.
”We also advise the public to plan their journey and call the toll free PLUSLine at 1800 88 0000 for the latest traffic update,” Noorizah added.
NEW BUKIT GAMBIR INTERCHANGE BENEFITS 10,000 RESIDENTS
MUAR, 25 May 2014 - The Bukit Gambir Interchange, which was officially opened by the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today, is expected to benefit 10,000 residents in the surrounding areas.
PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) Managing Director, Dato’ Noorizah Hj Abd Hamid said, “The opening of the new interchange at KM156.7 will not only benefit the residents, but will also spur the development of the Pagoh university hub through an alternative access to the North-South Expressway.”
The Bukit Gambir Interchange is located approximately 15 kilometres from the existing Pagoh Interchange and 12 kilometres from the Tangkak Interchange. The new interchange shortens the surrounding residents’ journey between 38 and 48 kilometres. It also saves them between 40 to 60 minutes of driving time.”
“The RM78 million interchange is equipped with an 8-lane toll plaza, prayer rooms, public restrooms, rest huts and parking area for the public,” Noorizah added.
PLUS will continue to upgrade and improve its highway facilities and help the public enjoy safer and more convenient travel on the highways.
“As such, we are currently expanding our highways between Shah Alam and Rawang as well as between Nilai Utara and Seremban to facilitate smoother travel,” Noorizah said.
According to Noorizah, PLUS is also currently constructing two other new interchanges at Alor Pongsu and Seremban.

SUNGAI BUAYA INTERCHANGE TACKLES CONGESTION AND HIGHWAY ACCESS WOES
SUNGAI BUAYA, 10 January 2014 - Traffic congestion on local/federal road and direct access to the North-South Expressway (NSE) are no longer an issue for the rakyat in Sungai Buaya and its surrounding areas when the Sungai Buaya Interchange was officially opened by the Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, today.
According to PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) Managing Director, Dato’ Noorizah Hj Abd Hamid, “The Sungai Buaya Interchange addresses the traffic congrestion problem along Route B27 near Rawang.”
The new interchange also provides the communities in Sungai Buaya, Sungai Choh, Serendah and Rawang north an easier access to the NSE, especially for daily commuters to the Klang Valley. Previously, the public in Sungai Buaya and Sungai Choh can only enter the NSE via the Rawang and Bukit Beruntung interchanges. With the opening of the Sungai Buaya Interchange, their travelling time can now be reduced by 40 and 60 minutes.
According to Noorizah, construction of the RM87 million interchange started in mid 2011 and was fully completed in October 2013.
The Sungai Buaya Interchange is located at KM434.7 on the NSE between the Rawang Interchange and Bukit Beruntung Interchange. The opening of the new interchange is part of the Government’s and PLUS’ strategies to develop the Hulu Selangor region and benefit the local community.
“The 1.5 kilometre interchange is equipped with facilities such as an 8-lane toll plaza (including electronic lanes), prayer rooms, rest huts, public restrooms, parking areas and others to provide more convenience for highway users,” Noorizah said.
She was quoted at the Official Opening Ceremony of the Sungai Buaya Interchange by the Prime Minister, today. Also present was the Minister of Works, YB Datuk Hj Hadilah Hj Yusof.
PLUS has also completed the construction of the Bukit Gambir Interchange in Johor. The interchange will be opened to public later this month.
Additionally, PLUS is also in the process of constructing two other new interchanges at Alor Pongsu and Seremban to provide more convenience to the public.
ONLY ELECTRONIC TOLL TRANSACTION AT KEMPAS AND PERLING TOLL PLAZAS BEGINNING 11 JANUARY 2014
Petaling Jaya, 7 January 2014 - In line with the Government’s call to the public to switch from cash to electronic toll payment system which is faster and easier, all toll transactions at the Kempas Toll Plaza (on the North-South Expressway) and the Perling Toll Plaza (on Linkedua) will be conducted electronically beginning 11 January 2014.
According to PLUS’ Managing Director, Dato’ Noorizah Hj Abd Hamid, “The implementation of electronic toll transaction at both toll plazas is a continuation of the same initiative at Linkedua. It is also part of the company’s strategies to promote faster, easier and smoother transactions at toll plazas.”
As such, PLUS will offer a 10 percent toll rebate to Class 1 vehicle users who pay toll electronically via PLUSMiles, Touch ‘n Go cards or SmartTAG at the Kempas and Perling toll plazas for 3 months beginning 11 January until 10 April 2014.
Additionally, highway users will also be able to purchase preloaded RM5 PLUSMiles and Touch ‘n Go cards at a promotional rate of RM5 at both toll plazas beginning 1 January until 31 January 2014.
The cards (with a preloaded value of RM5) can also be purchased a special rate of RM10 after 31 January 2014.
“As such, we advise the public utilizing the Kempas and Perling toll plazas to purchase these cards to enjoy the toll rebate and smoother toll transactions at both plazas,” Noorizah said.
