PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) refers to the announcement made by the Ministry of Finance on January 23rd, 2020 on the implementation of the 18 percent toll reduction.

The 18% toll reduction will take effect from 12:00 midnight on 1st February 2020 (Saturday) at all PLUS-operated highways covering the North-South Expressway (NSE), the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE), the Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing (LINKEDUA), the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway (SPDH), the Butterworth - Kulim Expressway (BKE), the East-Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) and the Penang Bridge (PB). 

The toll reduction will cover all Passenger Vehicles (Class 1), Taxis (Class 4) and Buses (Class 5) and will remain unchanged until the concession ends. Meanwhile, the toll fares for lorries (Classes 2 & 3) will remain unchanged and will not be increased until the end of the PLUS Concession in 2058. With the implementation of this Toll Reduction initiative, PLUS’ 1.7 million average daily customers will be able to enjoy more savings as they travel on PLUS highways.

Despite the 18% toll reduction, PLUS is committed to offer better highway services for its customers. These include aspects of its highway operations and maintenance as well as travelling experience on its highways.

PLUS will also intensify its efforts to help lessen the cost of living by playing its role as a Rakan Negara (Nation’s Partner) by supporting the Government's efforts to bring positive impacts to the rakyat.


PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) takes note of the Government’s decision to retain the company under its present shareholders, Khazanah Nasional Berhad/UEM Group Bhd 51% and Employees Provident Fund (EPF) 49%, with the implementation of an 18% toll reduction for private passenger vehicles and a 20-year extension to the existing concession period, with toll rates remaining flat until end of the concession tenure. 

“Given the intended implementation date of 1st February 2020, we are presently engaging the Government to confirm the scope and mechanics of the toll reduction.” said Dato’ Mohamad Nasir, Chairman of PLUS. “This is because of the need to ascertain the current concession agreement status as well as address any concerns that our Sukuk holders may have.”

Langkawi, 19 January – UEM Edgenta Berhad (“UEM Edgenta” or the “Company”), the leading Asset Management and Infrastructure Solutions company in the region, via its subsidiary company, Edgenta Mediserve Sdn. Bhd. (“EMSB”), today announced the ‘Replacement Through Maintenance’ initiative which is an expansion of the healthcare equipment maintenance programme implemented under the national hospital support services concession. This initiative is a collaboration with the Engineering Department of Ministry of Health (“MoH”) which will see all 32 hospitals under the Company’s care in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia to be involved in the programme’s future roll-out.

This was shared during the Launch of the Replacement Through Maintenance Scanning Systems, Computed Tomography event held at Hospital Sultanah Maliha, Langkawi today.

The ‘Replacement Through Maintenance’ initiative is created to manage the total equipment lifecycle and improve the quality of patient care. For the first phase of this initiative, the Company will commence with the replacement of Computed Tomography Scanners (“CT Scanners”). Subsequent replacement of imaging machines will include Magnetic Resonance Imaging (“MRI”) and Positron Emission Tomography Scanners (“PET Scanners”), among others.

The new maintenance approach is made possible through the Company’s existing partnership with a leading global provider of medical imaging technology equipment. The new CT Scanners and other imaging equipment supplied supports MoH’s goals of providing patients with modern, state-of-the-art technology that will produce faster and better image quality, eventually leading to quicker diagnoses and improved safety when patients undergo treatment.

“Adopting the use of new and advanced healthcare equipment through initiatives such as ‘Replacement Through Maintenance’ is essential as it allows hospitals to improve efficiency and patient care. Our commitment to MoH is to ensure healthcare equipment at the hospitals under our care are properly maintained throughout its lifecycle in order to elevate the patient experience,” said Dr. Nik Fawaz Nik Abdul Aziz, Head of Healthcare Support (Concession), Edgenta Mediserve at the event.

Also present to officiate the event was YB Dr. Lee Boon Chye, Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia, who commented, “Providing premium care to a growing Malaysian population is one of the priority areas for the Ministry. We encourage initiatives from the private sector which will allow our hospitals to provide the services and treatment at par with global standards which can only benefit Malaysians from all walks of life.”

The ‘Replacement Through Maintenance’ approach is just one of the many initiatives introduced by UEM Edgenta to support MoH in its continuous efforts to improve hospital support services. Throughout the years, UEM Edgenta has put in place several initiatives under their energy management programmes which has paved the way for the 32 MoH hospitals it provides support services to be accorded the Energy Management Gold Standard (“EMGS”) 1-Star ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (“AEMAS”) and/or EMGS 2-Star AEMAS ratings.

Overall, UEM Edgenta’s energy efficiency efforts have saved approximately RM23.6 million in its initial 24 months (January 2017 to December 2018) of the programme and successfully reduced the environmental emissions of the aforesaid 32 MoH hospitals.

PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) is collaborating with the Police to ensure safer and smoother journey home this Chinese New Year.

PLUS Chairman, Dato’ Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif said, “PLUS, as PDRM’s strategic partner, believes the smart partnership will contribute to positive journey experience while creating a safer environment on our highway.”

“With the presence of the police, highway customers will be rest assured that they can get help at any time and at the same time, feel that their safety is in good hands while on the highway,” he added.

He was quoted at the 16th Op Selamat Launching Ceremony in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration that was officiated by Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Dato’ Pahlawan Mazlan Mansor which PLUS co-organised.

According to Dato’ Mohamad Nasir, PLUS is focusing on how this organization takes care of its customers besides the efficient congestion management and the smoothness of highway operations during the upcoming festive period.

“All these efforts are tuned to helping customers enjoy smoother and more comfortable journey during the upcoming festive period,” he added. 

PLUS is estimating 2 million vehicles will be utilizing the PLUS highway during peak days of Chinese New Year festive season. This figure translated to an increase of 18 percent compared to 1.7 million vehicles daily.

“Among other preparations which include the issuance of Travel Time Advisory (TTA) to enable people to plan their journey and avoid congestion,” he explained. 

Also present were Datuk Azman Ismail, PLUS Managing Director and PDRM senior officials.

As part of an effort to improve safety on its highways, PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) collaborated with the Road Transport Department (RTD) to set up an RTD Station at the Pagoh Rest and Service Area (Southbound) at KM135.5 on the North-South Expressway.

The opening of 3rd RTD Station was officiated by RTD Director-General, Dato’ Sri Shaharuddin Khalid and witnessed by Managing Director of PLUS, Datuk Azman Ismail, Chief Operating Officer of PLUS, Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi, Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) Southern Region Director, Mohd Shahrir Amin Ahmad and RTD senior officers. 

PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail said, "PLUS continuously explores new approaches and ideas to improve safety on our highways to help our customers enjoy safer and more convenient travel. Apart from looking at engineering and education aspects, we also collaborate with enforcement agencies such as the RTD to improve safety on the highways.” 

“At the same time, the presence of JPJ enforcement officers on our highways is important in addressing issues that relates to heavy vehicles such as the use of low-quality rethreaded tyres, overloaded consignment and so on. Most of the obstacles found on the highway which consist of tyre fragments, wood, iron scraps or debris and many more originated from heavy vehicles, pose a threat to our customers,” Datuk Azman added. 

PLUS and JPJ and other enforcement agencies had conducted about 155 Ops Halangan to address obstacles on the highway since 2017. It shows the commitment of both parties and other enforcement agencies in resolving the issue on the highways and helps highway customers enjoy safer journey on the highways. 

“The setting up of an RTD Station at a strategic location such as the Pagoh Rest and Service Area (Southbound) is our commitment to provide safer highway service for customers,” Datuk Azman explained. 

The Pagoh RTD Station is the third RTD Station opened on the PLUS highways. The first RTD station was opened at Dengkil Rest and Service Area (Southbound) on ELITE highway on 12 February 2018, meanwhile the second station at Gunung Semanggol (Southbound) RSA on 25 January 2019. 

“The RTD Station will facilitate smoother and easier enforcement, monitoring, safety advocation initiatives as well as emergency assistance by RTD officers,” Datuk Azman added.

PLUS-JPJ BERKOLABORASI BUKA STESEN JPJ KETIGA DI R&R PAGOH (ARAH SELATAN)

Sebagai salah satu daripada langkah meningkatkan lagi tahap keselamatan di lebuh raya kendaliannya, PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) dan Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) berkolaborasi membuka sebuah lagi Stesen JPJ di Kawasan Rehat dan Rawat Pagoh (Arah Selatan) di KM135.5 di Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan.

Majlis perasmian Stesen JPJ yang ketiga di lebuh raya PLUS ini telah disempurnakan oleh Ketua Pengarah JPJ, Dato’ Sri Shaharuddin Khalid dan disaksikan oleh Pengarah Urusan PLUS, Datuk Azman Ismail, Ketua Pegawai Operasi PLUS, Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi, Pengarah Wilayah Selatan Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia, Mohd Shahrir Amin Ahmad serta pegawai-pegawai kanan JPJ.

Pengarah Urusan PLUS, Datuk Azman Ismail berkata, “PLUS sentiasa mencari pelbagai pendekatan untuk meningkatkan lagi tahap keselamatan di semua lebuh raya kendalian kami agar pelanggan dapat terus menikmati perkhidmatan lebuh raya yang selamat dan selesa. Justeru itu, selain daripada memberi fokus terhadap aspek kejuruteraan lebuh raya dan pendidikan menerusi program-program advokasi keselamatan jalan raya, kami turut melihat kepada aspek penguatkuasaan undang-undang dengan kerjasama JPJ dan agensi penguatkuasa lain.”

“Pada masa sama, kehadiran anggota JPJ yang mengadakan penguatkuasaan undang-undang di lebuh raya kami amat penting terutamanya dalam menangani isu-isu berkenaan kenderaan berat seperti penggunaan tayar celup yang tidak berkualiti, membawa muatan berlebihan dan lain-lain adalah amat kritikal. Umum mengetahui bahawa kebanyakan isu halangan atau objek yang berpunca daripada kenderaan berat seperti serpihan tayar, kayu, besi dan lain-lain mendatangkan bahaya kepada pelanggan-pelanggan kami,’ tambah Datuk Azman.

Pihak PLUS dan JPJ serta agensi penguatkuasa yang lain telah melaksanakan lebih kurang 155 Ops Halangan sejak tahun 2017. Statistik ini membuktikan komitmen kedua-dua pihak serta agensi penguatkuasa yang lain untuk menangani isu halangan di lebuhraya dan membantu pelanggan menikmati perjalanan yang selamat di lebuh raya.

“Langkah mewujudkan sebuah Stesen JPJ di lokasi yang strategik di R&R Pagoh (Arah Selatan) adalah komitmen kami untuk terus menyediakan perkhidmatan lebuh raya yang selamat untuk semua pelanggan lebuh raya kami,” jelas Datuk Azman.

Stesen JPJ di R&R Pagoh (Arah Selatan) ini merupakan Stesen JPJ yang ketiga di lebuh raya kendalian PLUS. Stesen JPJ pertama yang seumpama ini telah dibuka di R&R Dengkil (Arah Selatan) di Lebuhraya ELITE pada 12 Februari 2018, manakala stesen kedua di R&R Gunung Semanggol (Arah Selatan) pada 25 Januari 2019.

“Dengan adanya Stesen JPJ di selatan Lebuhraya PLUS ini, PLUS bersama-sama JPJ akan dapat menyampaikan perkhidmatan yang lebih baik kepada pelanggan lebuh raya melalui pelbagai inisiatif termasuklah penguatkuasaan, pemantauan, advokasi keselamatan malahan bantuan kecemasan,” tambah Datuk Azman.
