Datuk Hisham Hamdan was appointed as Chairman and Director of UEM Group Berhad on 1 August 2024.
Datuk Hisham Hamdan has over 30 years of working experience in senior leadership and board positions. His expertise spans a variety of corporate structures (portfolio, conglomerate, and business unit) encompassing businesses in various sectors and multiple countries. During his career, he spent 12 years in the capital markets, focusing on equity research and investment banking, working with various international banks.
He is currently the Chief Investment Officer of Khazanah Nasional Berhad ("Khazanah"), the strategic investment fund for the Government of Malaysia. With a wealth of experience in portfolio management, strategy, operations, corporate finance and business development, he assumed leadership of the Khazanah's Investments Division in March 2024 and is responsible for managing and growing Khazanah's multi-mandate and multi-asset portfolio.
Since 2018, he has served as Head of Public Markets in Khazanah, which has a mandate to invest in more than 10 countries worldwide across Developed Markets and Emerging Markets underpinned by systematic and quantamental investment strategies. Prior to Public Markets, he was responsible for the Auto, Agrifood and Iskandar Malaysia in Khazanah's portfolio and served as Executive Director of Research. Additionally, he has served as Chairman of UDA Holdings Berhad as well as a member of the Boards of Iskandar Investment Berhad and ValueCAP Sdn Bhd, respectively.
Before joining Khazanah in April 2011, he was the Head of Strategy at Sime Darby and subsequently served as EVP of Sime Darby's businesses in the healthcare and utility sectors as well as in China. At present, Datuk Hisham also serves as the Chairman of UEM Sunrise Berhad and Bandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd. He is a founding member of the Board of Trustees of Khazanah Research institute (“KRl”). He holds dual degrees in Chemical Engineering and Industrial Management from Purdue University, United States and has also completed the Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Programme.
Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin was appointed to the Board of UEM Group Berhad (“UEM”) on 15 April 2022 and re-designated as Chairman on 1 January 2023. He was subsequently re-designated and appointed as the Managing Director on 1 August 2024.
Datuk Amran was previously the Executive Director and Head of Asset Development Group, overseeing Khazanah Nasional Berhad ('Khazanah')'s Malaysian Investments. Prior to this, Datuk Amran, who has over 27 years of experience, was responsible for Khazanah's investments in various sectors including Energy, Iskandar, Leisure & Tourism, Infrastructure, Power, Agrifood, Indonesia and Sustainable Development.
He began his career in 1997 with Petroliam Nasional Berhad (“PETRONAS”) in corporate finance and treasury functions. He then transitioned to the private equity industry before joining Khazanah in 2011.
He is also a Director of UEM Sunrise Berhad, UEM Edgenta Berhad, UEM Lestra Berhad, PLUS Malaysia Berhad, Projek Lebuhraya Usahasama Berhad, Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad, UEM Builders Berhad, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, Konsortium ProHAWK Sdn Bhd and several private entities under UEM.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance from McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, United States of America and Executive/Professional courses from Harvard Business School in the United States, as well as at London Business School, United Kingdom.
Dato' Mohamed Nasri Sallehuddin was appointed to the Board of UEM Group Berhad on 1 June 2016.
Dato' Nasri is currently the Chief Corporate Officer & General Counsel at Khazanah Nasional Berhad.
Dato' Nasri obtained his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from University of Wales, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom in 1993. He was admitted to Gray's Inn as a Barrister-at-law and after having completed his pupillage in Malaysia, Dato' Nasri was admitted to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor. He also holds an MBA from University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom.
Currently he is a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Telekom Malaysia Berhad and Chairman of Board Risk & Investment Committee of Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Chairman of Think City Sdn Bhd, Taman Tugu Project Development Sdn Bhd, Destinations Resorts and Hotels Sdn Bhd, Desaru Development Corporation Sdn Bhd and Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn Bhd. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan Hasanah.
Faridah Bakar Ali was appointed to the Board of UEM Group Berhad on 20 March 2025.
Faridah is the Chief Financial Officer at Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”) having joined Khazanah in May 2006 after building a career in accountancy and finance with PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia and BP Malaysia.
In Khazanah, Faridah worked on many transactions including several notable ones including the world’s inaugural first Exchangeable Sukuk of USD750 million into Telekom Malaysia shares in 2006 as well as the world’s first negative yield sukuk into Parkson shares in 2012.
She is a Board member and Audit Chair of Malaysia Aviation Group Berhad and its subsidiary, Malaysia Airlines Berhad.
She is also a Board member and Audit chair of Securities Industry Development Corporation, the training arm of Securities Commission.
She graduated from Lancaster University in Accounting and Finance and is a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Nicholas Khaw Hock-Lu was appointed to the Board of UEM Group Berhad on 13 January 2025.
Nicholas Khaw is currently the Head, Research and Co-Head, Private Markets at Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”). He joined Khazanah in April 2011 from the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, where he started his career as a macroeconomist.
Currently, he sits on the Boards of Khazanah Research Institute and Yayasan Khazanah. He is a monthly contributor to The Edge Malaysia’s Forum column.
He holds a Master in Public Administration in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School and completed his Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Harvard College, United States. He is currently pursuing a part-time PhD in Political Economy Research at King’s College London.
Datuk Dr. Yatimah Sarjiman was appointed to the Board of UEM Group Berhad on 15 January 2026.
Datuk Dr. Yatimah has over 30 years of experience in public policy planning, human and financial resources management and organisation, economic and administration development of the region, social administration, international relations and foreign affairs. Her expertise spans rural development, international industrial structures, the plantation industry and women empowerment. She has also served as Director of the Agriculture Division and Deputy Director of the Infrastructure and Utilities Division within the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister’s Department. Throughout a 34-year career in public service, she has held strategic positions including Deputy Secretary-General at the Prime Minister’s Department and Director-General of the Department of Women Development.
As a former Deputy Secretary-General (Sectoral) at the Ministry of Economy, she played a pivotal role in the formulation of the 12th Malaysia Plan’s Mid-Term Review, recently tabled in Parliament. She also contributed to the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), launched in July 2023 and the National Energy Policy launched in 2022, supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to become a low-carbon nation by 2040.
Datuk Dr. Yatimah also serves on the boards of PETRONAS Gas Berhad, Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), GTA Holdings Berhad and Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad.
She holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting Information System from Idaho State University, USA, a Master of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from Northrop University, USA, and a Doctor of Philosophy from University Utara Malaysia.
Tan Siow Ming was appointed to the Board of UEM Group Berhad on 15 January 2026.
Mr. Tan is an experienced business leader with extensive experience in strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and business transformation, across Asia and the United States. He brings strong expertise in corporate governance, financial oversight, and enterprise risk management.
He is currently the Executive Chairman of Trinitaz Capital Partners, a Kuala Lumpur-based boutique mergers and acquisitions firm specialising in originating and advising on investment opportunities across Southeast Asia.
Prior to this, Mr. Tan spent over 30 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he held a number of senior leadership roles. He served as Executive Board Member and Senior Partner for Malaysia and Vietnam for 12 years. His other roles at PwC included Global Deals Telecoms Industry Leader, Territory Deals Leader, Chief Strategic Risk & Network Officer, and Transaction Services Director, with responsibilities in Malaysia, Vietnam and the United States.
Mr. Tan is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (FCA) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration (Honours) from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and has completed the Senior Management Development Program conducted by Harvard Business School.
Chris Chia Woon Liat was appointed to the Board of UEM Group Berhad on 15 January 2026.
Chris is a business leader and seasoned investor with nearly three decades of experience deploying capital, building enterprises, and leading complex transactions across the Asia Pacific region.
He is the Managing Partner and Founder of Kendall Court, a Singapore-headquartered, Southeast Asia-focused private equity firm established in 2004. Under his leadership, Kendall Court has built a reputation of partnering with management teams and stakeholders to build resilient, scalable businesses through multiple market cycles and across jurisdictions.
Earlier in his career, Chris was part of investment banking teams at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup Global Markets (formerly Salomon Smith Barney) in Singapore, advising on some of the region’s most significant corporate and cross-border transactions. He currently serves on the boards of several prominent organisations, including Bangkok Bank Berhad, Jelawang Capital Sdn Bhd and Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) and a Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Western Australia, a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management, USA and a Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University, USA.
Liew Li Wean was appointed as an Alternate Director to Nicholas Khaw Hock‑Lu of UEM Group Berhad on 15 January 2026.
Ms. Liew has over 20 years of experience in various leading roles in investment banking and the renewable energy industry. She has proven expertise in M&A, equity and debt fundraising as well as stakeholder management.
Ms. Liew joined Khazanah Nasional Berhad in October 2025 as a Director of Investment. She was previously the Head of Corporate Finance APAC at BayWa r.e., a global renewable energy developer, where she led transactions and project finance activities in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to that, she spent more than 15 years in investment banking, focusing on deal origination and corporate finance at Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad and CIMB Investment Bank Berhad. She started her career at Corporate HQ of UEM Group Berhad before her stint at UEM Environment Sdn Bhd (now known as Cenviro Sdn Bhd).
She is also a Director of UEM Lestra Berhad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UEM Group Berhad.
She holds a Master of Commerce (Finance) from the University of New South Wales, Australia and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
